Privacy Policy
The short version: Chairly has no accounts, no servers, and no tracking. Everything you enter is stored on your device — the one exception is your phone's own Android backup, which goes to your Google account, not to us. We can't read your data, sell it, or lose it — we never have it.
What Chairly stores — and where
Chairly stores the information you enter — income entries, tips, expenses, booth-rent schedules, categories, notes, and photos of receipts — in a local database on your device only. It is never transmitted to us or to any third party by the app. If you delete the app, that data is deleted with it, so export first if you want to keep it. On Android your phone's own backup system is one exception to “it stays on the device”, and it gets its own section below.
One separate, smaller thing does not always follow the same rule: the start date of your free trial, not personal data, just a timestamp the app uses to know when the trial ends. iOS stores it in the device's own secure keychain, which by Apple's own design can survive deleting and reinstalling the app — an iPhone that reinstalls Chairly resumes the trial it already had rather than starting a new one. Android has no equivalent secure store outside the app's own storage, so a reinstall there starts fresh.
Your phone's own backups
Worth stating plainly, because it is the one way a copy of your records can leave the device without you sending it — and it is your phone doing it, not Chairly.
- Android — Chairly backs up your records automatically to your own Google account, so if you lose your phone you can install Chairly on a new one and your records are already there — no file to find, nothing to tap. The copy is made by Google’s backup service, kept in your Google account, and we never receive it or see it. Receipt photos aren’t included; use Create backup in Settings to keep those. To turn it off, disable backup for Chairly in your phone’s Settings → Google → Backup.
- iPhone and iPad — Chairly’s records, receipt photos included, are marked as excluded from your device backup, so they are not copied into iCloud Backup or into an encrypted local backup. Nothing to switch off, and nothing of yours in Apple’s copy. The trade-off is the other side of that: an iPhone restored from a backup comes back with Chairly empty, so use Create backup in Settings to move your records to a new device.
Either way, no copy is ever sent to us. Chairly itself uploads nothing, on either platform.
What we don't collect
- No account or sign-up. We never ask for your name, email address, or phone number.
- No analytics or tracking. The app contains no analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, or trackers of any kind.
- No ads. Chairly shows no advertising and shares nothing with ad networks.
- No location data. The app never requests or records your location.
Purchases
Subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are handled entirely by Apple's App Store or Google Play. We receive no payment details — no card numbers, no billing address. Apple's and Google's own privacy policies govern the transaction. Refunds and cancellation are managed through your store account.
App updates
On Android, Chairly checks Google Play at launch for a newer version and, when one exists, uses Play's own in-app update flow to install it — the same mechanism the Play Store app itself uses, not a Chairly server. This is the only network request the app makes outside the purchase flow above. iOS updates go through the App Store as usual and involve no in-app check.
If you stop paying
Your records remain on your device, viewable and exportable, free, forever. A lapsed subscription limits adding new entries; it never locks you out of what you already tracked.
Device permissions
- Camera — requested only when you photograph a receipt. Photos are stored locally with your data.
- Photo library — requested only if you attach an existing photo.
Both permissions are optional; the app works without them.
Exports
CSV and PDF exports are created on your device and go wherever you send them — email, files, your accountant. Once an export leaves the app, it's in your hands; we never receive a copy.
This website
appchairly.com is a static site. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and makes no requests to any third party — fonts and images are served from this site itself. Your language choice, if you pick one, is stored in your own browser and never sent anywhere.
Children
Chairly is a business tool intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13. Since we collect no personal information from anyone, we collect none from children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date. Because the app collects nothing, changes are expected to be rare and minor.
